India is the birthplace of one of the worlds most well-known board games: snakes and ladders.

The board game that is now known as Snakes and Ladders has its start in ancient India, where it was named Mokshapat or Moksha Patamu. Today version of the game is called Snakes and Ladders. Although the exact date of its creation and the identity of its creator are unknown, it is thought that the game was being played as far back as the 2nd century BC.
